Understand Priority Seating.
You will need to use it. Priority seating is not a reservation.
After checking in, tables are assigned to priority seating guest in the order
that they checked in not on the basis of the time of the priority seating. So: Check in roughly a ½ hour a head of time. Don’t sweat when your time
is.
We believe in a mix of utilitarian feeding, family fun food and a dinner experience
for Mom and Dad.
Utilitarian.
a.k.a. You have to eat.
Make Breakfast in the room. Saves money but more importantly time.
Cereal, bagels, pop tarts etc. We stay in the DVC resorts so we have a 'frig.
But before we joined DVC we took a cooler to keep milk cold and there is ice at
all the hotels and packed a toaster. If you kids are like ours they eat P&J.
You can make them in the room too. At every resort we have stayed at there was a
place to get milk, bread, bagels etc.
Counter service. We eat a lot of pizza. Quick, good, filling. The
little ones. Small kids will not eat a whole personal pizza. Don't over order,
it is easy to do.
Family Fun
The Sci -Fi Drive In Theater use to be good. Your table is a car at the
drive in. Grainy old science fiction is on the screen. We had some great milk
shakes. But they changed the menu from sandwiches and burgers to more sit down diner
food.
Character Meals are great fun. Call for priority seating or go at off
times. We got into dinner at Chef Mickey's, no waiting, with a group of about 20, without
any priority seating by going early, 4:00 pm.
It isn't gourmet but we have found Chef Mickey's food to be very good. They
serve a nice selection for both kids and adults. It is themed well with lots of
character visits. Don't for get your autograph book, pen and camera.
Mom & Dad
The California Grill excellent. Get seats at the time Magic Kingdom
does fireworks and watch them out the window.
The Flying Fish is also excellent. You don't get the firework experience
but the food is as good or better the the California Grill. This is our
favorite. We leave the kids with a sitter and have a fun time to ourselves. Kimball loves the banana napoleon,
Bennet loves the tuna.
If your on a budget go to the Flying Fish order 1
entree and several appetizers and share. We found that three people can eat
cheaper this way then two people can eat ordering a full meals and everyone
leaves full.
Glasses
of wine are very expensive at the restaurants, buy a bottle.
... or save wine drinking for later in
the evenings. Buy a bottle at the resort and drink it in the gazebo out by the
water.
